Man returns book overdue since 1960

HANCOCK, Michigan (AP) –

"I figured I'd better get it in before we waited another 10 years," said middle school social studies teacher, Robert Nuranen, after returning the long overdue book. "Fifty-seven years would be embarrassing."

Nuranen discovered the long lost book, Prince of Egypt, in a box in the attic of his family’s house. The due date was June 2, 1960. It had been checked it out for a ninth-grade assignment. He returned it to a very surprised librarian, along with a check for $171.32, forty-seven years worth of late fees.

"I'm going to use it as an example," the librarian said. "It's never too late to return your books."
